Brief History of St. Martin Polyclinic, Inc.

Established in 1979 as one of the accredited medical clinics of the Overseas Employment Development Board (OEDB) of the Ministry of Labor and Employment processing the overseas employment of the Filipino skilled workers to the Middle East Countries. St. Martin Polyclinic, Inc. is accredited by the tri – partite committee (Department of Health, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and MARINA ).

Since 1979, St. Martin Polyclinic, Inc. (SMPI) is actively involved in the medical screening of all workers seeking employment abroad. Because of the need of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for more skilled workers for their infrastructure program, the Ministry of Health had to select only a few medical clinics and hospital to undertake the rigid medical requirements of the workers going to their country.

St. Martin Polyclinic was chosen as one of the clinics from among 26 candidates. Our clinic is also one of the clinics to undertake the screening of the Saudi Recruitment Office in charged of hiring medical workers for the Ministry of Health and other government hospitals. SMPI also screens sea based applicants bound worldwide.

In June 1984 a new branch was inaugurated to engage the medical requirements of the multinational company and at the same time introduced the mobile medical system (MOBIMEDS) by conducting all the examinations in-plant. Laboratory examinations are done inside the air-conditioned mobile clinic thus saving man hour loss for the company.

In 1992, Taiwan government had accredited only 4 Medical Clinics and 3 Hospital to undertake the medical screening process for their candidates. St. Martin Polyclinic stands out as one of the 4 clinics that successfully meets the Taiwan standards. Again in July of 1997, the Kuwait Embassy had accepted our applicants for accreditation which we credited our acceptance through our years of good track records.

At present, St. Martin Polyclinic has more than 450 sq. meters of adequate space, 6 Medical Examiners, 6 Medical Technologist, 2 Nurses, 3 X-ray Technicians, Dentist, 2 Optometrists, 1 Audiologist, 2 Psychologists and a dozen more in the records and administration department.

St. Martin Polyclinic, Inc. Quality Management System was certified by the Philippine Council on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (PCAHO), and has been assessed and certified by SGS Quality Assurance for its ISO 9001:2000 version.
